When it comes to creating a luxurious sanctuary within our homes, the bathroom often takes centre stage. Gone are the days when bathrooms were mere functional spaces; today, they are transformed into opulent retreats, oasis’s of relaxation and indulgence…
This change has given rise to the trend of “boujee bathrooms” meaning well-appointed and lavish spaces that combine functionality with aesthetics.
Within our projects, we have incorporated a few elements that contribute to creating a boujee bathroom.
1. Steam and Shower Room: Elevating Your Shower Experience
Imagine stepping into your bathroom, and instead of the usual cold tiles, you’re enveloped in a cloud of warm, soothing steam. A daily steam not only promotes stress relief and relaxation, it very much soothes and repairs sore muscles. Steam an also assist in respiratory health which opens up the airways and eases congestion. One of our favourite benefits is your skin health! Steam can cleanse and hydrate the skin whilst removing toxins from the skin.
Within our Millers Point Residence, to add to the luxury of this bathroom, Mr Steam was a must. The walls were injected with Mr Steams “liner steamhead”. The streamlined flush to the wall system creates an inverted waterfall of steam that cascades gently upwards into the shower. We also upgraded to the aromatherapy range – a small dose to create the ultimate relaxation experience.
To add to the luxury of a steam shower, adding high end materials like the intricacy of black & white tessellated marble floors enjoys the strength of green bevelled subway wall tiles. Lined in the open niches are Bisazza’s King 20 Gold blend mosaics which are fashioned with a 24kt gold leaf between two projective layers of glass. The racked ceiling being lined with small black mosaics ensures every moment of the steam experience is condensation free. A custom moulded Calcutta Verde marble basin dominates its floating green cabinetry below providing a glorious & sumptuous visual treat on the eye.
2. Saunas: The Ultimate Relaxation Retreat
Adding a sauna to your bathroom is the ultimate luxury touch that elevates the entire space to a truly luxurious level.
The sensation is not just physical but also psychological, as it transports you to a world of relaxation and opulence. The sauna’s presence transforms the bathroom into a private spa, offering unparalleled comfort and wellness benefits, from stress reduction to improved circulation and detoxification. It’s a statement of indulgence and self-care, turning routine into a lavish escape within the comfort of your own home.
Each type of sauna offers a unique experience and therapeutic benefits. The choice between them often comes down to personal preferences regarding temperature, humidity, and the specific health benefits one seeks.
Infrared saunas utilize infrared heaters to emit radiant heat that directly heats the body, promoting perspiration and relaxation at lower temperatures, typically ranging from 49°C to 66°C. This gentle, penetrating heat is favoured for its ability to target muscles and joints, aiding in pain relief and detoxification.
On the other hand, hot coal saunas rely on heated rocks or coals to generate intense, dry heat. Temperatures can soar to 71°C to 93°C or even higher. This type of sauna is appreciated for its deep, cleansing sweat, and it’s often followed by a cool-down session, such as a cold shower or a plunge into cold water, which is considered invigorating.
Within our upcoming project, the Bayview Residence, incorporating a hot coal/ traditional sauna was an ultimate dream of the clients.
We decided to use the sauna in our favour, transforming the bathroom into a space that brings warmth and relaxation. Selecting materials that evoke the warmth of a sauna was crucial. We incorporated Western Red Cedar Timber and custom patterned tiling to not only mimic the saunas aesthetic but to also add the W&W touch to the bathroom.
Choosing a colour palette that reflects the saunas ambiance was essential. Earthy tones like warm browns, mustard and soft neutrals will create that cosy and inviting atmosphere we were wanting to create.

3. Sheer Curtains: Adding Elegance and Privacy
Sheer curtains have a magical way of infusing a bathroom with an air of sophistication and luxury, instantly making it feel boujee. These delicate, translucent fabrics allow soft, diffused light to filter through, creating a sense of ethereal elegance. They add a layer of privacy without sacrificing the luminous ambiance, creating a space where you can bask in the soft glow while maintaining your seclusion. The sheer curtains’ gentle, billowing movement and subtle textures introduce a tactile element that softens the bathroom’s aesthetic, balancing fixtures with a touch of timeless grace. Sheer curtains are the epitome of understated opulence, instantly transforming your bathroom into a boujee haven of tranquillity and refinement.
4. At home wellness centre… Nordic Spa
Woods & Warner have been engaged to provide the interior architecture for a ski chalet in Revelstoke Canada. Imagine stepping into a calm, nature-inspired sanctuary every day where the stresses of life seem to melt away.
